The challenges that the generation of today face are many, but are they really that much different from 1982? In some ways, yes, but in many ways, they are still kids with the same obstacles. The artists have changed, but music is still popular. So are video games and sports, though now it is a PS3 or Xbox rather than a Caleco Vision. The average earning wages of teens have gone up, as well as the expectancy to attend college, although today’s generation is less likely to finish high school. Drug and cigarette use is lower, and kids are more likely to use contraception for sex the first time. It is true that today’s generation is set apart from the kids of 1982, but in many ways the change is for the better, as demonstrated by statistics and studies. In the end, however, they are still kids with many of the same challenging choices.
